FAQs & Policies

Warm-ups & Beginning of Class Sessions

Classes include a warm-up with conditioning and dynamic stretching, but warming up on your own or stretching especially tight areas before and after class is strongly encouraged. Plan to arrive 5-10 minutes early to your class to be ready to start on time. If you are more than 10 minutes late to a class or miss the warmup, you may not be allowed to participate in class. A proper warmup is very important for physical activity. Make sure you are hydrated and have eaten something within 1-3 hours before coming to class.

What to Bring

Feel free to just bring yourself! If you want to bring a water bottle or a yoga mat, you are welcome to do so. Ronin's facility does have refreshments available for purchase for those who are interested.

What to Wear

Clothing you can move in! Please no jeans, restrictive clothing, or super baggy clothing, as your instructor needs to be able to see the line and shape of your body for these classes, to help you make adjustments as you learn aerial skills. A few suggestions for clothing options for class: yoga pants and a fitted top, leggings with a fitted top or leotard, exercise shorts and a fitted top or leotard, tights with a leotard, biketards, unitards, or similar clothing options that don't have zippers or attachments to them. It is highly recommend fitted tops cover the armpits, for comfortability and safety. For all involved, proper supported undergarments is strongly advised: such as sports bras and dance belts. Layers are allowed (and recommended during colder months or you easily are cold) during warmups; once you are ready to train on the apparatus, the layers will need to be removed. Please make sure to have all medium or long hair pulled back out of your face and secured. No jewelry is to be worn, with the exception of studded earrings, nose rings, or other close-to-the-body piercings with approval. No rings on fingers or toes, anklets or bracelets, necklaces, or dangling earrings. Please also make sure you don't have long nails on fingernails or toenails (for safety and preservation of the equipment).

Class Structure

The curriculum is built around progression of skills and techniques from the previous class, therefore it is important to try to be there every class session. If you are unable to make it to a session, please reach out to your instructor. Classes will be offered for specific apparatuses, ranging from beginner, to intermediate, to advanced.

How Do I Sign Up for Classes?

All classes are booked online through this website. You must register prior to the first day of class starting to be able to participate in the 6-week classes. Please visit the "Book Online" tab to get started in registering for class.

Do I Need to Be in Shape for Classes/Lessons?

You definitely don't have to be in shape to take a class or lesson. Everyone starts somewhere in their aerial or circus journey. Many people start with no prior athletic or movement background. These aerial classes are designed to help you develop the strength you need with the skills and exercises in class. Our classes teach with progression to help you develop your skills as you continue to grow as an aerialist. If you feel you are intimidated to start a 6-week class, starting with a private lesson or with the Aerial Condition sessions is another opportunity provided for your preference.

How to Prepare for Classes

Avoid applying lotions, oils, self-tanners or spray tan applications prior to class. Even in the morning of the day of your class. This will help you to be safe while training while also keeping the equipment you use for class safe for others to use after your class session. Stay hydrated the day before and of class, as well as be sure to eat 1-3 hours prior to your class time to avoid feeling light headed, dizzy, or weak while training.

Phone Policy

Phones will not be allowed out while training. At the end of the class or lesson, you will be provided an opportunity to have your skills recorded or photographed - prompted by the instructor. When taking videos or photos, please be courteous and respectful of your classmates. Avoid including anyone that’s not you unless you have their permission. Please keep phones on silent unless otherwise discussed with the instructor prior to class starting.

Food & Drink Policy

Food and drinks are to stay off the mats at all times and away from apparatuses. They can be with your bags or personal items, in the designated areas, but not on or around the training area and equipment. If you eat something right before class (not recommended), please make sure to wash your hands so nothing is transferred to the aerial equipment.

Late Policy

If you are more than 10 minutes late to a class or miss the warmup, you may not be allowed to participate in class. A proper warmup is very important for physical activity.

Weather-Related Concerns

If classes are cancelled due to any weather-related concerns (tornados, snow/ice storms, etc.), you will receive communication about class being cancelled. Your instructor might try to utilize an open gym time for makeup lessons if possible.

Available Apparatuses

Aerial Silks, Aerial Sling (hammock), Dance Trapeze, Static Trapeze, Double Trapeze, Cerceuax (aerial hoop), Spanish Web, and Corde Lisse are available aerial apparatuses for use. Private lessons and group lessons/events will have specific available options.

Is There a Weight Limit?

These apparatuses and rigging equipment are created to withstand all shapes and sizes of people. There might be different sizes of bar-type apparatuses (i.e. trapeze or aerial hoop), but a majority of the apparatuses work for people of all weight. Some are more recommended for beginners, while others are more difficult in the sense of being strong enough to hold yourself while executing specific skills and techniques.

Cancellation Policy

All class cancellations must be made at least 72 hours before the first day of class for a full refund. Partial refunds will be provided between 12-72 hours before the first class. If you cancel your registration less than 12 hours prior to the start of class, or don't show up to class, you will not receive a refund for the class. Private lessons and group lessons have a similar full refund or partial refund prior to the lesson/event time, with no refunds if canceled closer to the event/lesson time.
